A night out with the girls.

Some times people will ask me to check out a place. Usually it has a new owner but sometimes it is because of an artist playing. So last weekend that is exactly what I did with a few adventurous friends.
Friday night we went to “Jim’s Sunset Bar and Grill”  I need a GPS to find this place but it is well worth the effort.  It is clean, has a pool table and darts and is well-lit. I hate a dark a bar. Part of going out is to be seen.  Most men and women make an effort to look their best.  A dark bar just hides all that work and effort.
Jim’s Sunset Bar and Grill is a perfect place to stop and have a beer. The hamburgers are amazing and the loaded fries are especially good. You do need to throw a man or a couple more women in there to help eat them! The portion size was amazing!
On Fridays they have Karaoke and on Saturdays they have a live band.  It was a lot of fun and I can’t wait til summer because he is going to have music out side parking by, yes, I said it – the Barn. I love a place I can ride the bike to and have a “Drink without Drama”.
When you get the chance, check out Jim’s.  You’ll see me there because it’s a fun place. I won’t be singing Karaoke but you may see Jim singing.  Come have a good time.

Big Red Barn

We ventured Saturday night to the Red Barn in Gruetli
Laager, Tn. to see Shane Worley play.  I have see Shane before at Thunder on the Rock and Jamboree by the Lake, and a few other place but I can’t remember.  I have always enjoyed his sets. He’s always doing a good mix of music that truly shows off his talent.
Well, what about the BIG RED BARN?
If I am going to drive 30 miles to see someone again I will make sure of a few things first. The Big Red Barn has a cover of 10 dollars, because, as I was told, you have to bring your own everything. They don’t sell beer! I don’t mind paying a cover, since that usually goes to the band. I just have certain expectations and at least one of them is to have a good time whether I am drinking or not. We were greeted by black light. Bar lighting should not make your teeth glow and make it impossible to smile and laugh. I guess it went well with the disco light which will make sense in a minute.  The dance floor is great, it is large and accommodating.  There are plenty of tables for seating and the bathrooms are clean and well lit.  Shane and The Wild Ride were very good even though the place was a bit empty but it was the first beautiful day we have had in awhile.  In-between the sets they decided to play rap music.  Now I have nothing against rap music. I just think if you are going to play it, play good rap music.  Don’t blast the same pop rap that is popular at the local skating rink. It’s fine at the skating rink though.  That’s where it’s best.
Through the course of the evening we tried to hang in there. I don’t know if it was just us, some places prefer to stay local and not have people venture up the mountain.  I have been to another place that is the same as the Big Red Barn but down in Georgia. They can’t sell beer either, but the dance floor is full every time it’s open.  The atmosphere is fun and friendly.
I look for fun. “Drinks without Drama”
